Annecy

The town of Annecy is renowned for its vast turquoise lake, the jewel of the Rhône. The charming and attractive town is built on a maze of canals, a Venice of the Alps, with cobbled streets and old stone bridges, which is overlooked by the towering Annecy Château part of Annecy le Vieux.

Its beauty has attracted people for years – there has been a settlement here since prehistoric times. The old town is lined with cafés and restaurants in a traffic-free environment, whilst cruises on the lake offer great views of the Alps overlooking the town. With such wonderful hotels such as the Imperial Palace Hotel, make your arrival and departure here a smooth one with a private door-to-door taxi transfer from Geneva airport or the train station in Annecy.

The organic restaurant Nature et Saveur is a highlight not to be missed.

When you’re not relaxing by the lake there are plenty of things to keep you busy; swim, hike, bike and sail and glide.

If you are visiting in August you will be lucky enough to see the Festival of the Lake, with fireworks and spectacles all around Annecy.
